HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO YOU ALL!
CHAIRMAN'S NOTES JANUARY 2008
I am writing this at 4.30pm New Years Eve with a much needed glass of chilled white on the side!
All the razzmatazz is almost over for another year…………have you all survived I wonder…….
I, like half the nation apparently, managed to come down with a really heavy cold two days before Christmas so I managed to ‘snuffle’ and cough my way through the whole event. Christmas Eve passed off quietly enough we did the usual things like The Night Before Christmas tale and we left the Whisky out and a note for Santa to say which cupboard he could find the mince pies in (daren’t leave these out as the hounds might have got there first)………….Chris swears though that his Grouse had gone down in the morning………..
Christmas Day didn’t go quite according to plan but it all turned out well in the end.
Food wise the Turkey won (as I knew it would), but at least I managed to get just a whole ‘butterfly’ breast no messing about with damn bones. It was still enough to feed the whole county but I cut it in half and – yes you guessed we are having the other half tomorrow and all next week!!
Boxing Day saw a gathering of us playing an ancient game of skill called Merrills (if I have spelt this wrong I’m sorry). Really simple but the kind of thing that keeps you thinking…
Tonight we are alone for the first time in years, I must admit that this wasn’t the intention, but it will be romantically different – I think we may be in bed by 10pm dead to the world!!!!....….tomorrow who knows…………
Then ofcourse its all back to normal for another year…….hopefully the weather might be an improvement on 2007 to make our MM diary easier to follow!!
After I said that the December meeting would be thin on the ground there were lots of us there which was great, it was nice to share the atmosphere as it was lovely and Christmassy and not a 'Bah Humbug' in sight! but can I just remind everyone again that it is the AGM at the next meeting Monday 14th January so it would be good if we can get as many people as possible to attend.
The only thing that remains for me to say at the end of 2007 is……….
Chris, Pebbles and I sincerely hope that all of you have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Also Peace to the World………….
