Sue’s Scribbles  February 2014

Hi Guys,

As I'm writing this it's decidedly chilly outside but considering it's almost 4.30pm as I look out of the window the sky is still quite light – which is a blessing to me as I hate the dark morbid days of what seems to be continual half light, these dark days make me feel like doing absolutely nothing, everything seems to be a chore and I could quite happily cuddle up under the duvet and not appear until Spring has Sprung!! I must have a Hedgehog gene!!!

Anyway onward and upward, are the whirl of Christmas festivities getting to be just a distant memory? Well sorry but I must just jog those memories and mention our post Christmas meal at The Trout Inn.

We have had our Christmas meal here for the last three years on the trot now as not only are they are our nearest next door neighbours but as always Keith and Marie put on the most excellent meal for us all. We had 20 of our lovely members and some extra guests enjoying this celebration as it wasn't just our 'official' Christmas 'do' but also we celebrated a 'nought y' birthday – Davy had reached the big 60 – well technically it was on the16th but who cares - and then Christine was 21 again on 12th so what better way to do them both but amongst friends!!! Someone asked me how old I am, I don't do age and I don't do numbers so lets put that one to bed, I like to celebrate a birthday with anyone who wants to – me? I'm still 18!!!! hey just over the legal age limit to drink!!!

Our AGM last month also went with a swing with around 90% of members being present, the committee remains the same as last year with everyone voted in by a total majority! After the committee reports were given it is evident that the branch is healthy, active and doing well.

We are having ongoing discussions about what to do on Drive it Day, it was planned to go to Cadwell Park Vintage Race Day again but unfortunately Cadwell aren’t doing it on Drive it Day this year as Drive it Day has been changed because of Easter and I suppose spending the day in a traffic jam on Easter Sunday isn't the idea of a days drive! Although that doesn’t mean to say that we can't have a branch outing to this venue at a later date if any of you are interested. For anyone who missed it last year, in the words of Wallace & Gromit it is a 'grand day out'!

If anyone has any ideas for Drive it Day please let one of the committee know by email (all addresses are on our contacts page). It hasn't got to be miles and miles but a nice little run out  possibly find a pub or whatever for lunch or a place of interest to visit and then back again, the whole idea of the day is to be seen out in the classic cars and keep the profile of them out in the public domain.

What a lovely smile & John looks pleased too.......

The Moggy with no name! NOW Named 'POPPY'

The 'Fozzies' Ann and John are now the proud new owners of a super little 1967 2 door Saloon, (no name yet but I'm sure they’re working on it)! She is fully restored and rearing to go, so ofcourse they are both really looking forward to taking her out and about this season. Now more than ever I really must get a new hood for my Green Bean, I'm starting to feel a bit like the poor relation in our branch!!!!

Hope to see you at the next meeting Monday February 10th The White Horse Hutton Cranswick 7.30ish.

Take care

Sue, Lotti & Charli x
